Tony Hoagland’s a genius in expressing the undeniable connection between human beings, despite seemingly irreconcilable differences. I like this poem, and a lot of his poetry, because it kills you while it soothes.

Although this poem is well-known, I think it is one that everyone can connect with in some way. Neruda elicits such passion and despair regarding the possibility of being away from his loved one (whether it be his homeland or lover).
